Nestled within the Neue Galerie, Café Sabarsky features authentic Viennese food and pastries. You're instantly transported to another country and decade as the café's decor includes seats upholstered with fabric from 1912, and other period objects.
Räucherlachs mit Streichkäse | Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese & Scallions. This was a very refreshing and filling sandwich. It's perfect for those days when you want to eat something light, and save lots of room for dessert.
Gurkenlimonade | Cucumber Juice with sparkling Lemonade. I seriously could not get enough of this beverage. They use fresh cucumber and it really energizes the palette.
Apfelstrudel | Apple Strudel. A pretty standard pastry, but they did an excellent job keeping the outside flakey, and the apples juicy. The flavors were well balanced, and this is the perfect order if you want something sweet, but not overwhelming.
Feuilletine | Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse Cake. Can you fall in love with a cake? Is it possible for a cake to come into your life and sweep you off your feet? I'm starting to believe so, because there was just so much right with this pick. The mousse was fluffy perfection, and when it was coupled with the crisp cake and wafer there was some serious food nirvana going on.
Zitronenschnitte | Lemon Biscuit with Lemon Mousse. What can I say? This was a pretty basic cake. It wasn't overly sweet or tart, and the cake was moist. I have to be honest though, and say that I didn't find this cake offensive, but it didn't make me crave more either.
