Calico, California, United States of America
Ghost towns have always been a point of fascination in my childhood. With all of our modern advances and methods of documenting things, it's incredible to imagine entire towns being totally abandoned and left to ruin. While on my way home from a weekend in Las Vegas, my friends and I pulled into Calico Ghost Town to visit this silver mining town. It was once a bustling town that produced over $20 million in silver. There was the main street, and even different neighborhoods. While visiting, guests can take a short train ride around the premises, pan for gold, and even walk through an authentic mine shaft. While a lot of attractions are quite kitschy, I think that's part of the fun!
